I had to refresh my Windows 8 install and left the drivers the install used for my GTX 590 suddenly the score for my card went to 7.4 so I am not sure now whether to load latest drivers.

Interesting

That's a new grephics card. Wait until nVidia releases Win8 drivers.

The Win7 drivers are WDDM 1.1 and the Win8 drivers are WDDM 1.2 and that probably makes the difference.

Keep the standard driver for a while if it's better.

Cheers

I could not help myself I had to reinstall the latest Nvidia drivers and now my WEI score has dropped to 5.9 thanks to my desktop performance for windows aero score.

My 3D Gaming graphics score also dropped to 6.7 .... definitely need Nvidia to develop Windows 8 drivers.

Nvidia drivers site already have added Windows 8 to the dropdown os option-list. The same package includes Vista , 7 and 8 drivers. The latest still needs some improvement as we are only in beta stage.

Hi there
Anybody got a 9 or even an 8.5 yet (or is this a "Conspiracy theory" -- if you can build a rig with that score you are being recruited for a job at a gaming company, Nasa, the CIA or Ms !!).

From what I've seen of the scores

Memory maxes at 8 -- probably the Mobo can't handle a faster memory rate
SSD's up the Disk performance significantly -- most non SSD users seem to have an average of around 5.9 but even an SSD only takes it up to 8.2 -- again this is probably a Mobo limitation.

I would also have thought that the top level I7 Intel Processor CPU would have given a result nearer 8,5 or even 9 -- again I guessing that the Mobo is now the limitation rather than the components being measured.

Any "White Coated / Engineer / Physics" guys who can give decent comments on this sort of stuff.

Thanks.

Dude, this Windows 8 "Customer Preview" is only a Beta. We're not gonna see fully baked & ready-to-go nVidia drivers for Windows 8 until around the time the first retail versions of the OS hits the shelves...probably around the middle of this summer (2012).

I'm not one of the guys in the white coats, it's much easier than that really.

Just use one of the new i7 6 cores like the 990x overclocked to about 4.7Ghz would get the CPU to at least a 9+, of course that would require some overclocking skills which is something I do have.

For memory, use 16GB of the faster DDR3 2400Mhz memory would get the score well into the 9's, it's only money right?

For SSD's you would need a few of good ones in RAID0 X3 which would get the score well into the 9's, easy but not cheap.

As for graphics, the latest GTX-580 in triple SLI configuration will get the score way up there, very expensive going this route but hey were here for high scores and money is no object woooohoooooo!

You would also need a good motherboard and PSU not to mention some actual skills in putting this monster together, still totally doable.

All it takes is money and lots of it, plus a bit of skill building the rig I suppose. :)

I only have 3.3 but everything runs very fast on x64. It's only limited for gaming, but I don't play games.

W8 is lighter and faster than W7 for me. No doubt about it.

Do you actually notice any difference in running them.

Of course not:)

They both boot in around the same time and both run programs in around the same time, I am sure the M4 is faster, but only in benchmarks. Both run well in the 2 rigs I have them in.
