Good old crucial c300 64gb, after 3,5 years and endless os reinstalls, still flies just like new. I know, it cannot compare to all these new pci-e ssds with gigantic numbers and so on, but it still can beat much powerful pcs just because they are overbloated.

Hi
Just got my first SSD. I've ran some Performance Benchmark tests and I'd like to know if that's what they should be or not.

Aspire V-561G_0776_V2.14
CPU: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60GHz, 2301 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
HDD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD
RAM: 8GB
Grafic : AMD Radeon R7 M265

Screenshot 1.pngScreenshot 2.pngScreenshot 3.png

Why is the Random Read/Write so "far" from the stated benchmark numbers (97000\66000) ?

Enable Rapid Mode.
Is there a big "gain" enabling Rapid mode ?
Is there any "downside" ? (I have 8GB RAM) ?

I only have 8GB in my laptop. I haven't had any issues with it. However, to see the benchmark numbers you asked about, you need Rapid mode enabled. Now, in real life, it may not be worth it. It does eat up some ram and there is a potential for data corruption. You might find the following link interesting.

Understandable. My experience so far has been positive. I have the drive in my laptop, so losing power shouldn't be a huge issue - I have the battery to back me up :) As for RAM consumption, for me it has not been an issue. I use my laptop primarily for work and I have many applications open during the day.

I've played with turning Rapid Mode on and off and from a "feel" perspective, I'm not sure if I really notice a difference. The only difference I do "see" is with the benchmark numbers.
