I think you got a lemon there. Ever since I lost my s3, I have been using my old original s. Works great. Haven't had any problem.
Electronic devices can be inconsistent.
Talk about lemons, this is my 4th Droid X2 I had replaced within 1-1/2 years.
The first incident happened within the first month or two after having personalized with apps and icon placements. I set the alarm for 6:00 a.m. weekdays. When it went off I couldn't turn it off via the screen for it was froze. I had to take it out of the protective case, open the back, and yank out the battery. Upon reboot it worked fine. I thought it was a fluke and went on.
Lol! It happened again the next morn! I took it to a Vz store to get a replacement. The tech stated "Well, Sir, we have to see that in order to replace it".
She hard reset it. I suggested we test the alarm of which she did. Worked fine. No problomo. I went my way and had to personalize it again.
Lol! It happened again for the third day. More determined to get a replacement, I took it back in only to hear her once again "Well, Sir, we have to see that in order to replace it". I'll tell you, it took all that was in me not to cuss her up and down! Gathering myself I said "Young lady, I'll tell you what. You show up at my house at 5:59 a.m. and I'll show you then". Luckily her supervisor said right then that they were having problems with screens on this particular model and to give me a replacement. Another personalization.
One day not too long afterwards the back light for the search button ceased to work. I could live with that, but while I was at the store getting a case for my daughter's phone I thought I'd show them. They gave me a replacement. Ok. Personalized the phone again. Luckily I kept paying on the extended warranty.
After a year in I unlocked it one day only to find a faint white screen. I almost got on my hands and knees to beg them for a different model! I said you'd be better off. No can do! Another replacement and another personalization. And yet another time 6 months later, being a year and a half into the contract.
In the mean time Google buys Motorola. Nice!
This last replacement screen has held so far, but I have to reboot every other day. I was up for new-in-two in February and they want me to upgrade so badly. I say "No can doooo!"
I'm contract free as soon as my daughter's phone is up for upgrade in October. I'm saving up for phones to buy outright and going prepay. They won't be Scroogle Motorolas. Hopefully Windows phone 8 Lumias or similar.
