For some time I have had corrupted system files which are not repaired when running sfc/scannow.
As a result I am experiencing several performance issues including failure to complete some 3rd party software installations.
Just after this post I discovered several similar posts and the replies.
I ran DISM which reported successful repair, so here's hoping all is well.
