this appears 52 times in the cbs.log and every one points to a KB (windows update package)

" Failed to internally open package. [HRESULT = 0x800f0805 - CBS_E_INVALID_PACKAGE] "

Dism uses those packages to repair the image and the package is invalid..

Try a system Refresh or repair install .. best I can suggest now..

I'd rather reinstall Win10 (which I tried for well over a week, then dumped) than reinstall all my many third-party applications.

Thanks for looking, though. Appreciated.

Hello Didpoy, and welcome to Eight Forums. :)

It would be best to post at our sister site www.tenforums.com for Windows 10 issues instead.

Fantastic, this is a constant and ongoing problem. How about expanding on this and making it into a real tutorial?
I'm not complaining, what you have is great and should help lots of people but a step by step tutorial could help even non-techy people to do this.

>>Rich - For the Win 10 x 64 corrupted files I uploaded 2 attachments that SFC and DISM reported.
My options prior to this forum were system restore, images of both a clean Win 10 install and the last big update, and finally a reset. [I thought I saw a place to "repair the PC with the OS disc but am not sure it applies here.]

For the somewhat average user I find the material pretty difficult and am not even sure how to start.
Am I correct that this is difficult or is it just me?

Which of my options should I go with and in what order?
TY
Peter

For two days, i can't figure this sh**. I've done exactly same as posted in first page, but I'm still getting 0x800f081f error.

I' ve got this problem.

Code:
WARNING: File C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-tabletpc-journal_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.17793_none_086408f678984d30\Windows Journal.lnk was not backed up as that would replace the current backup.

Any suggestions?

Windows Journal.lnk was not backed up as that would replace the current backup.

.lnk is a shortcut

I'm fully aware of that. Still can't fix the issues.

Code:
AutoAnalysis::
CORRUPT: C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-p..erandprintui-pmcppc_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.17782_none_fc24923354aa878b\Print Management.lnk

I did the process and it said it is repairable. I completed and it said,"Enjoy" implying that all was OK.
However, I ran SFC and it still reported corrupted files as before.
I had chosen option 1.
Should I choose another?

The program does not say "Enjoy" unless you chose option 0

Press 0 - Quit and Exit program

The preferred method of use would be to select

Option 1 ScanHealth > if shows as repairable,
then
Option 2 RestoreHealth > if shows as needing source file,
then
Option 3 RestoreHealth /source

Source files could not be found in mine either and-it said it recovered a file but still was not successful.
I do not know what to do except the traditional system restore, image or reset.
Any advice?
