How to Upload and Post a Screenshot and File in Eight Forums​

Introduction

This tutorial will show you how to upload, attach, and post a screenshot, image, or a file in your post here at Vista Forums.​

CONTENTS:

• Option One: To Insert Image into Post
• Option Two: To Attach Files to Post

OPTION ONE

To Insert Image into Post

1. Do step 2 or step 3 below for how you want to insert an image into your post.​

2. Drag and drop the image from your computer to where you want into your post, and go to step 8 below. (see screenshot below)​

3. Place the cursor in your post where you want to insert the image at, click/tap on the Insert image (Ctrl+P) button on the toolbar of your post, and go to step 4 below. (see screenshot below)​

4. Do step 5 (drop) or step 6 (click) below for which option you want to use.​

5. Drag and drop the image from your computer into the Drop Image box, and go to step 8 below. (see screenshot below)​

6. Click/tap on the Drop Image box. (see screenshot below)​

7. Browse to and select the image you want to insert, click/tap on Open, and go to step 8 below. (see screenshot below)​

8. Select the now attached image in your post, and select if you want a Thumbnail (recommended) or Full image version of this image. (see screenshot below)​

9. If you want to add a link to the image, then click/tap on the image in your post, and click/tap on the Insert link icon. (see screenshot below)​

A) Type the URL address you want for the link, and click/tap on Insert. (see screenshots below)​

10. When you are ready to submit your post, click/tap on the Post reply button. (see screenshots below)​

OPTION TWO

To Attach Files to Post

1. Click/tap on the Attach files button at the bottom left of the post box. (see screenshots below)​

2. Browse to and select the file you want to attach, and click/tap on Open. (see screenshot below)​

​

3. Do step 4 (file) or step 5 (image) below depending on what type of file you uploaded to attach.​

4. If you uploaded a file, you will now see it listed at the bottom. Go to step 6 below. (see screenshot below)​

5. If you uploaded an image, place the cursor in your post where you want to insert the image, select if you want a Thumbnail (recommended) or Full image version of this image, and go to step 9 in Option One above. (see screenshots below)​

6. When you are ready to submit your post, click/tap on the Post reply button. (see screenshots below)​

I'm sorry if I wasn't suppose to post a pic of my desktop, but I'm trying to learn
how to work all these different options using not only your tutorial, but others
posted on this help site. They have been most helpful. Please delete if you feel

Oh thanks so much. It's just been a blast. I see there is a size limit on images, so I
will make sure that I stay within the guidelines. Perhaps you might delete my image
as I've gone over the limit. In any event, thanks again.

The limit is only per file, and not as a total of all your uploads. No need to worry about deleting them.

Going to do a test.



This inserted just fine. But could not when I was doing from a post and did "Quote". Maybe that was my problem.
I did find out that pic can not be re-sized even though there are the boxes around it.

I have over 200 images stored at "Photobucket.com" and when I want to share one on a forum, I just copy the Image URL for that pick and paste it into the forum. I have many pic's of my cars, my computers, Bike Week, etc. One for just about every occasion.

It's as simple as Copy & Paste. That is, where it's permitted.

Hello TechnoMage,

Tru dat.

It's just that it's usually preferred to upload items directly and attach them in a post so you never have to worry about having a broken image link in the future if the image should no longer be hosted at the link for whatever reason.

That beach looks great.
