Nice tutorial!

I'm impressed because standard SATA drivers should be included on the Win8 DVD.
On all the VM's and the laptops I use SATA and the disk shows always on the list.
But yes, it depends what hardware you use.

If one day I'll see nothing on the list, I'll try not to freak out and take a look here.

Thanks
Hopachi

How to obtain SATA drivers of Windows 7

5) Choose your Sata Controller. Click OK
NOTE: For this example, I am using JMB363.
I have windows 7 and when trying to install Windows 8, it cannot find my laptop's Hard Drive.
According to your tutorial, I can make Win 8 recognize the SATA HDD. But how can I get my Windows 7 SATA drivers? Is there any topic on sevenforums or here that can shows how to do it?

Welcome to EightForums

You need to download your drivers from the manufacturer's website.

Hello Robert,

You can get the latest Intel AHCI/SATA drivers for Windows 8 at the Intel link below. :)

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&keyword="AHCI+SATA+Driver"
You can find more of drivers here:
Model Content Page

From I can see most of them are BETA drivers for Windows 8.

Which one should I download as my SATA driver?
* Intel Management Engine Interface v6.0.40.1215 (Security Driver Utility Application Special)
* Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver v11.5.2.1001 (Driver HDD)

Just one more question; since this is an msi .exe file, can it be installed while I am stuck in not recognizing my HDD window during installation of Win 8? Or I need to decompile (extract) it? If so, how can I extract .exe files?
