Recent Places showing folders instead of files

Hello Guys,

when I used to go to "recent places" from the favourites menu from file explorer it used to give me a list of the most recently opened files, now it gives me the folder of the file opened instead of the file. I recently upgraded to Win 8.1 from 8 so it might be a change made there.

e.g if I open a file called text.txt in c:/Spare folder in recent places it used to add text.txt, it now shows the spare folder instead!

Could someone please have a look at there recent places to see if it's the same.

On my system (8.0) Recent Places shows only folders, but there's another place that does show files.

Create a shortcut to "explorer shell:Recent" and, since it will look the same as File Explorer, change its icon. Then put it on your Desktop, Taskbar, Start Screen, or any place you want.

im using win8.1 and it shows the folder of the file I last visited ,can say how it worked on win8 for me because I never used recent places then or now
