Solved Random BSOD

Hi,

Can you please help me fix the BSOD's I am having lately with WDF01000.sys / nvlddmkm.sys / usbhub.sys etc....
I have updated all USB & Nvidia drivers. I am currently running on Win8.1 64 bit.

All the crash dumps shows different stop codes and almost all of them blames memory_corruptiond as the reason behind the crashes.

Probably caused by : memory_corruption
Please follow the below steps.

1. If you recently added any new modules, remove them and test.

2. Enter BIOS setup and load default values to revert any intentional or non intentional changes made to the voltage, frequency or timing values of memory modules.

3. Stress test the modules to find failing one. Please read instructions from the below link carefully.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums

You should run at least eight passes with the memtest program for an accurate result.

Hi - I have done steps 2 & 3 above. The memory modules are about a year old, so I did not remove them. I have loaded the default BIOS values and ran 15 passes with memtest and no errors.
I am still getting BSOD's though :( - although it went away for about a week after I reloaded Nvidia (graphics only - not the audio) and Motherboard drivers (chipset & audio). Can you please have a look again? I have attached my latest minidump. Thank you!

As with the old dumps, new dumps also shows bugcheck 1E and blames "Win32k.sys" as the reason for cause.

Probably caused by : memory_corruption
"Win32k.sys" is the part of Windows executive that interacts with the graphic hardware. If we inspect the raw call stack of the thread which is crashed, we can see display driver is being called.

Currently installed version of display driver seems to be the latest.

This new version of the driver is reported as buggy multiple times. So it is better to downgrade the driver to a known stable version until Nvidia releases a stable update. Please follow the below steps.

1. Uninstall Currently installed Nvidia driver and components completely from "Control Panel--> Programs".

While uninstalling, remove components like 3DVision, Physx, etc first and Display driver at last. Otherwise the driver won't be uninstalled properly.

2. Download and install the below version of display driver.

NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce 314.22 Driver WHQL

It's a bit old but so far the less problematic version. While installing, choose "Custom" and deselect everything except "Nvidia Display driver" and "Physx". Also tick mark "Perform a clean installation option".



3. Update system BIOS.

Current version of BIOS is pre "Win 8" so you should update to the latest version for full "Win 8" compatibility.

Hi

You should also update your Logitech Keyboard/Mouse driver. It seems to be a little outdated.

Hi, I have done the above except for the Logitech driver bit. I use an Xbox controller and Gigabyte keyboard. The only Logitech product I use is a G930 headset. I used to have a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 before, but haven't used it in a while and are not planning on using it anymore. Should I update the Logitech drivers anyway?

Hi,

I haven't had a BSOD for a couple of days now :party:

After implementing these fixes I would like to share some hints:
  • When rolling back your Nvidia driver, make sure that Windows does not update to the latest drivers sneakily in the background by changing your Windows Update settings.
  • I suspect that LGBusEnum.sys is the culprit. I have removed this driver, but it reappeared after installing the Logitech G930 software. Shortly afterwards my machine crashed...... I then removed the file manually and since then had no issues with BSOD's. The headset seems to be working fine as well.
  • Finally but, not least Anshad Edavana is the real deal!!! Thanks Anshad for your help!
