So I have been playing Watch_dogs for about 7 hours today and I just randomly encountered a BSOD! :(

Any help would be massively appreciated. Thank you.

here are my DMP files:

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs. Make sure to use the "Grab All" button.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

Beyond this, as there was only 1 memory dump in the upload, I have these 3 suggestions:
1. Get ALL available Windows Updates. It may take several trips to get them all
2. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
3. If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings'

Just a food for thought.

If you are not having persistent BSOD's while normal working of your computer, I think that a single BSOD would be fine as even I get them from time to time but what I do know about them is that because I left the laptop running in a wrapped bed sheet or like that <_< .

Add to that, that you were gaming for 7 hours straight. In no way I am saying that you have no right to ask for help here. Just a few words of mine ^_^.

In any case I would also be glad to help you out in case the problem exists further.

Clearly, in this dump the blame is on the Hidusb.sys driver which is the USB Input. Are you using any USB input devices like gaming controllers etc to play the game? Please unplug the USB devices and see if the bsod still occurs.

One thing which I noticed is that in your previous dump file analyzed by John, the service running is MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. But, in the loaded modules list in your latest dump, I see AVG Antivirus as well running.

You should not have two AV's running simultaneously as they are bound to clash with each other. Could you please run the below tools to remove those Antiviruses?

MalwareBytes :- https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=122284
AVG :- AVG Remover Free Download - Uninstall Antivirus

Please make sure to read the instructions in the threads. After cleaning both, please turn on the Windows Defender/ Microsoft Security Essentials.

I would suggest you to delete and clean these antiviruses before you proceed further with the removal of USB devices and all.

Please do not use CCleaner while we're troubleshooting. It deletes some reports that we may need.

Only 33 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Have you run any of the hardware diagnostics that I suggested? If so, what were the results?
As this is a different BSOD error code than the last one (and the WER section of MSINFO32 shows 1 or 2 different BSOD error codes) - this could e a hardware problem. Please complete the hardware diagnostics and let us know the results.

As above, if the hardware diagnostics all pass, then start with Driver Verifier: Driver Verifier Settings

Update your Bluetooth drivers to the latest, Win8.1 compatible version. Often Win8 Bluetooth drivers will have problems with Win8.1 systems (and you'll see USB drivers in the stack text when this happens).

C: drive only has about 8% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on ALL hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

Please note that Daemon Tools is still loading in this memory dump.
Please follow these instructions:

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

The raw stack text for this dump has mouhid.sys and hal.dll listed
The mouse appears to be a Razer Naga
Dumps with hal.dll present "usually" have issues with hardware and/or compatibility
Interestingly, the drivers for this mouse don't appear in the memory dumps - nor am I able to locate any Razer drivers in the reports that you've provided.

Try removing the Razer mouse and use a different mouse to see if that helps.
If it does help, then try using the Razer Naga mouse with the latest, Win8.1 Razer drivers (to see if that fixes the problem).

I did the analysis of the latest dump file provided by jaygreen but I did not notice any trace of mouhid.sys in the stack which I have posted as well. The only reference is the hidusb.sys . This was when I analyzed using the WinDBG but now that you mentioned it, I tried again with the BluescreenView of Nirsoft and there it is mouhid.sys as blamed along with 2 others. How come this is happening? o_O

Furthermore, in the MSINFO32 report, both the keyboard and Mouse have the same Vendor id i.e. 1532 which belongs to Echelon Corporation according to this :- PCI Vendor and Device Lists

In the notes it is mentioned about the Razer device but how come there is nothing like this in the Stack at all? :O
So, should I inspect with both the BluescreenView and WinDBG for analysis?

Raw stack is a bit different from the stack text that the debugger displays.
I use 2 custom DLL's to run commands inside my kd session to see it.
NOTE: IMO it's not very useful in most cases. But on occasion, with some difficult analysis', I have a look to see if it found anything additional. In this case it was the mouhid driver that popped up.

Is it significant? I don't know - only having jaygreen test it will tell us that
.

1) Niemiro's dll at Sysnative (SysnativeBSODApps - additional check 'drivers found in stack' - Page 5 - Sysnative Forums)

I use this command to get the raw stack:
Code:
!niemiro.rawstack

FYI - you can use this command to get the details of a STOP 0x124:
Code:
!niemiro.auto_errrec

2) I also use the ProcDumpExt.dll to see another version of the raw stack: BSODTutorials: Loading Custom Debugger Extensions - !load and !dpx

I use this command to get the raw stack:
Code:
!procdumpext.dpx

I googled the PnP Device ID (the VID_1532&PID_0015 numbers) from the mouse entry (Components...Input...Pointing Device) in MSINFO32 in order to figure that it was a Razer Naga. There are other possibilities, but the Naga was (IMO) the most common result.

I will start analyzing your Dump files shortly, till the time please follow the instructions below to get back into Windows. Use the below link. The instructions for disabling driver verifier in various conditions are a bit later :-

Driver Verifier Settings

EDIT :- The debugger is not able to read many parts of the Dump file, so could you please provide with the latest dump files generated by the driver verifier and lets see if we can find the cause.

Furthermore, I found this in the stack :-

Are you able to get back into your PC yet?
If not, try this method: Disable Verifier Outside Windows (Vista / 7 / 8) - Sysnative Forums (I haven't tried it myself).

If that doesn't work, there's 2 other things:
- mount the registry remotely and delete the Driver Verifier settings there
- reinstall Windows 8 again (which will remove the Driver Verifier settings).
