Problems with the APPS section

hi guys,

Must i place this in the Graphics section, the Drivers section, do not know, so here it is.

Recently and finally i changed my monitor to HDMI (bad idea).

After some problems Windows installed the Intel 4000 driver for the monitor.

Now i have too large tekst when going into the apps section. Even hitting the right corner then the tekst and icons are too big on the Charms Bar.

thanks

Jeff

Is that the only view that looks that way? If not, any chance you have something set for dual monitors? BTW, your apps view looks more like my 8.1 view than my 8.0 view.

no JustATest,

all of a sudden the apps start on the left side instead in the middle.

They are really too big, not as you see on the printscreen.

no dual monitor and i am on Win 8.1, forgot to mention that.

Include a second prtscrn, from the Charms Bar, maybe that gives you an idea, if not i deleted this one.

thanks

Jeff

if you look at the left side what was typed and you see the Charms Bar on the right, that is a big difference.

Hi Jeff,

I thought you might be on 8.1 but I am sorry that I am totally confused about what your real issue is now. You originally show a screen where the apps are skewed to the right. You then report they start on the left side instead of the middle. You also claim they are too big and I don't see that. Sorry but I'm just not understanding your issue so if you think you have clearly stated your issue, then maybe its just me.

well i admit it is difficult to see.

But the APPS section is really to big, so is the Charms bar.

i can resolve that if i go back to a VGA connection.

But thanks

Jeff

PS

yes, one time it was more to the right while the bar under was on the left. That is solved, not by me though.

One can make the text smaller but not in the APPS section and that is strange.

OK, thanks for that explanation. Now that did ring a bell for me! By chance, are you using a combo PC/TV monitor? If so, that would explain why you are getting different sizes via different connection methods. Specifically, if you do not have a PC only monitor, and you try to use a PC/TV combo monitor with an HDMI connection, your screen will actually look like a TV using HDMI. However, when you use a dedicated VGA connection, that is specifically designed for a PC connection, that could be the difference. Did I get it?

I use Nvidia and the Geforce software has a setting for "Resizing the Screen" - Intel Chipsets have a setting for "Change Scaling" which is the same thing. Because most HDMI will extend beyond the extant of the screen at 1920 by 1080p. You you have to scale back the screen size a little with custom scaling.

Shawn is da man. Every time I install a Geforce Driver update, it sets my screen to full 1920 by 1080, the actual size has to be scaled down to 1850 by 1035 or so, or else my taskbar can't be seen

Hey Jeff,

Odd, the setting should not reset like that. The smaller "Default" option is the default setting. This is a per user setting, so is this the same account that you had it set for this?

Hello David,

Sorry, but that would only apply for the desktop DPI. It has no affect on the modern UI (metro) screens DPI.

no David, when doing it as mentionned above, i have the default, then i change it to smaller, there is no apply for it.

BUT not only do i have this when rebooting, but also when coming out of the lockscreen this morning it went to "DEFAULT".

This is strange, was not like that yesterday.......

However, let's call this a but in the beta version.
