It's the HUD Theme on Virtual Customs website, the blue version.. HUD regular is red.. But yes, it's free.. There's a Win7 and and Win8 version :)
That's cool. :thumb:
I'll have to go and check that out. I especially like the look of the icons.

If you theme your PC, careful with AeroGlass.. That thing screws with Win8/8.1 bad on some systems.. Before they ironed out some of the bugs, I went through 8 wipes before I gave up and waited til they smoothed out the themes for Win8.1.. It still doesn't work right for my system. I personally don't think it's needed, but I guess transparency behind windows and such would be cool. Just not worth wiping my PC for it ;)

That doesn't sound good.:(
I found the website, but couldn't find the theme you'er using. However, there were plenty of others to view.
Right now I'm using the hc-midnight-blue theme and I like it a lot. I guess I'll stick with the theme I'm currently using.
I don't really feel like going through what you experienced.

It's just AeroGlass that does that.. DWM is not something that is native to Win8/8.1.. And all those extras you don't have to install.. I got them all but AeroGlass and they work great without it :)

Instead of Aero Glass you can use Transparency. Just make a copy of the icon and place it in in startup folder:

Place a shortcut on Start Screen
To open start menu shortcuts folder:

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog
  2. Copy and paste the path below into Run, and click/tap on OK.:
    %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
  3. This will open:
    001.png
Now you can place a shortcut(drag & drop) here and it will show up in
your Apps Screen, you then will be able to pin it to start screen
