Wow, how'd you get the icons on your task bar (for Steam and everything else etc) small like that? It'd be nice to have mine like that

All you have to do is right click on the taskbar, choose Properties, select "Use small taskbar icons" and then hit apply. I certainly like the smaller icons better.

I'm in. Simple Simon. Just using easy to find background. Will find or make something better one day. Still, the background is nice.

I'd dislike to show you my 7 desktop. It's a mess with shortcuts and gadgets. I like clean. I use Bing desktop, so I get a new pic daily. I found out that it opens the desktop after I have enough time to scan my live tiles for info. Roughly 20 seconds. If I need to go back to the Start Screen -> Win/Key -> and walla!

I've just removed the Win8CP from my other laptop, and reinstalled my Win7Ult from an image.
I thought it looked so good I'd try the same look in Win8.
Hope you like it. I've posted a W7 screenshot for comparison.

The Chromebook OS came on the Chromebook that I was using when I sent that picture. That's the machine i use most of the time now on this forum.

Me too, one of my favorite features of Windows 7 was the native ability to do a wallpaper slideshow.

On my Windows 7 machine I have a few thousand wallpaper photos and have them as a slide show but on this Notebook running Windows 8 at present I'm using Bing so the photo is whatever their photo of the day is.
This is today.


And these are my Start screen but I haven't finished playing yet so it may change again.

I use grandkids for desktop background in 7 and 8. I do not want to spend the money on principle for the metro is background and tiles. Because I think Microsoft should supply more of what they have for free like they do on the desktop backgrounds We should not have to pay for it nor try to script them

Last week I removed the CP from the other laptop, and replaced it with a sys-image of its previous W7 setup. That went without a hassle, so today I pulled the DP off the old desktop box (P4 2.8Ghz/1gig RAM/256mb Geforce 5700). The DP has been on this box for over a year, and was also replaced with a sys-image of the box's previous setup. Yes, boys and girls, I have my Vista Ultimate setup running again!! Unfortunately it is a basic 'cleanskin' image, so I must now install my programs again from scratch. But it was like meeting an old friend you haven't seen for some time. Lot to do tho, you'll notice the Service Packs aren't even installed yet. Anyway, here it is. Wenda.
