This is mine when Taskbar isn't hiding.
It's just more relaxing to minimize everything, lean back to comfort zone and enjoy my escape out to nature.
When I had taskbar at the bottom, the toolbars would all be stacked behind a popout arrow.
I accidentally dragged the taskbar to left side one day and liked it. All of a sudden I had a file cabinet full of shortcuts.

I just installed Windows 8 a few days ago along with Classic Shell yesterday, so my desktop is still in a state of flux. I have settled on a stable start screen.

I made it.

I photographed a few still frames from Forbidden Planet and merged pieces to enhance the grain, like a bas-relief.
I made same adjustments to parts here and there in Photoshop. Voila.

I stuck to a really simple yet beautiful design for my laptop running Windows 8 Pro, it's got NO desktop clutter, and I'm using Pokki for pretty much anything I can considering it's so simplistic :)
