System is a Gateway with 4GB of memory running Win 8 Pro.

System is placed in hibernation daily.

After two days the system performance degrades to the point of making the system unusable. Applications will take 5 minutes to load, even Internet Explorer. Network performance degrades. Task Manager shows multiple instances of programs that were launched but not running, even Chrome. The only fix is to shutdown and restart the PC.

Wow..... that ain't funny . I've never experienced this since I quit using Windows 98SE.

What kind of programs do you have running in the background? I'm sure it's not Windows that makes the pc turn slow. It must be a program or an app you've installed that is flushing your memory.

Did you encouter this problem right after the installation of Windows? Or did it occur recently? Try to figure out what you've installed since then and try removing those programs/ apps to see if it upgrades the performance of your pc.

Good luck with it!

This problem is very recent, around 2 weeks ago. I have not install any NEW programs but have upgraded two or three of them. Other that the monthly Windows updates no other changes have been made.

fwiw
Win8pro upgrade here would slowly use up more and more memory.
I thought maybe it was most frequent prog cache building but it builds forever,
until I reinstalled the Intel rapid storage driver. Which was shat was using all that memory.

Have you done a virus/malware scan?

Have you run a FULL virus/malware scan yet? Perhaps your pc is infected?

Did you do a clean install of Windows 8 or an upgrade from a existing Windows 7/ Vista installation? In the latter case you might want to consider uninstalling ALL the DRIVERS and reinstalling them. By doing that the drivers are properly configured for Windows 8 usage only.

In my case this did the trick for a semi-crappy videoperformance while playing Civilization V. Just uninstalled all the drivers and reinstalled them.
