I would expect that, like Seven, Eight will need no special hardware. It will just have minimum specs, and it's likely would run on a PC that can run Seven. A Guy

Those specs seem to be..ah...well....

Motherboard - Asus P5GC-MX Intel 945 chipset? I kinda like Gigabyte

Processor - Intel Dual Core? Might be a problem for tablets

RAM - 2 GB @ 1333 Mhz, so 1066MHZ isn't going to work

Hard drive - 250 GB, for an OS
Was hoping the OS would be smaller than that ;)

Optical Drive - 20x DVD Writer, Is this that floppy drive thing I heard about?

It doesn't make sense. Any rig that can run Windows 7 smoothly will probably run Windows 8 too.

Best computer I could ever want.
MS'll have a hard time gettings folks to switch to 8 if they jack up hardware requirements. People are just getting used to 7 and many are on XP.

Funny thing is everyone complained XP's requirements were too high when the specs for it were released.

Yes, but for older versions! SP3 has support until 2014.

''Important notice for users of Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2): The support for your product ended July 13, 2010! To ensure that you will receive all important security updates for Windows you need to upgrade to Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later versions such as Windows 7.''

I highly doubt Microsoft would make the specs higher for Windows 8 (128MB graphics was previously required from Windows Vista and the current OS Windows 7) So thats no difference.
