Hi,
My late father ( also doug gibb) passed this year. I know his windows 8 computer holds many family photos and such.
Access to his pc would be lovely.
I recall he had a 4 digit pin to log on, I entered it many times on his behalf but now cannot recall it.
Can I circumvent my late fathers pin code?

If all else fails the photographs should not be encrypted and so could be accessed from another system if you removed the Hard drive and mounted it in a USB caddy

There are around 10000 possible 4 digit options for the PIN but as the decoding is performed in the actual system it is quite secure.

The weakest part of the 4 digit PIN as it's also used in Banking is that people do not like difficult numbers so tend to use a small subset of codes
some light reading to give a background ...
