Optimising Windows 8 to use least resources

Hello.

I was looking for a way to force windows 8.1 use the least resources as possible, even if it means making everything 2d, no effects, no animations or what so ever. All I need is to really take all of the resources possible and invest them on Internet Explorer.

Basically what I want is to take every possible resource I can squeeze out the PC and put it into Internet Explorer. I was looking for a way to do it with a .bat file since I need to ship those commands to someone.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't understand what you hope to accomplish by giving IE more power? Are you expecting faster internet?

pparks1 Thanks for your reply. I'm not expecting faster internet at all. I'm running some kind of an application using Internet Explorer. Since the application on some occasions demands a lot from the PC hardware, what happens is that Internet explorer simply gets frozen and it requires to manually quit it, and even sometimes reset the PC as it may also freeze (rare occasions). I want to simply take any available resource the PC have and invest it in Internet Explorer. I don't care how the windows interface looks or act. Eventually, windows 8.1 is simply the infrastructure which the applications runs on, nothing more, nothing less. There is nothing else I'm doing using Windows 8.1 other than launching the application.

Sounds like a badly written application. You cannot always overcome that with new hardware or optimizations.

pparks1 It's not really about the applications. The application can run non-stop for a month and only then it may freeze. Sometimes it happens once a week. I just wanted to experiment what would happen if I could invest the most resources in Internet Explorer. Also, I must say that the PC running the application isn't strong at-all. On a more day-to-day PCs it simply never crashes.

Good advice,to help you further, fill in your system specs here so we can see exactly what you have. Try naming this application you are using.

jds63 Thanks for your reply. We are kinda missing the point here. The application is nothing you can find online. Also, I don't remember the CPU model right now.

The easiest solution will be to re-write the application, but at this stage we are trying to refrain from doing so. All we want is to find a way to reduce Windows 8.1 resources consumption. I just know that it's possible to set the graphics that windows uses to minimum (this will let us free some resources to graphics on the application side) but I don't know how to do it, not manually and not from a CMD command (which is exactly what I need to know)

For one check your startup programs and running programs, open task manager first look at startup tab, disabled as many as you feel is not needed. Use CCleaner too CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Here is another area right click the start button, select System then Advanced system settings under Performance click Settings, now can uncheck visual effects settings here.



Truthfully since we seem to not need to know what you are using to help you, not sure what else to provide you with.
Besides possibly more RAM. Also services in Task manager but would not suggest turning anything off or setting to manual to get more resources unless you know what they are and then sometimes can be done within a software.

Do what exactly in CMD i do not think so, but others may know if you mean disabling effects features or startups and services in windows
Use MSCONFIG type it in run command select the tab marked services, see what is running same as going there in task manager.
Do not shutoff microsoft services. Any others you need to know what you are shutting off, then certain system hardware may become unusable or services added besides windows ones.

Truthfully not sure why what you are doing is causing the need for more memory and resources on the system that you feel need or have to look to disable things to get more memory or speed to work a software. As i do not know other parts of what you are using to help you much further. Basic things are to stop startup programs, set running service to manual sometimes within a program itself or disable them, rather then doing it in services.msc .Defrag or trim the drives. Use CCleaner clean out browser cache, history and temp files, update device drivers and windows updates. PC needs to be maintained also to run well.
