I was copying my files on a USB, then I took it out ( without safely removing) and went out. When i got back, the laptop has already shut itself. when i turn it on it goes Operatin System Not Found. I use windows 8.1 and only 1 hard drive. When the PC goes into VAIO care rescue mode everything is white with options like start BIOS steup, contact support, start from media .... etc which are not at all helpful, unlike others problems which makes the screen black. but the same thing happens to me when i change boot mode to Legacy, but back to normal when to UEFI. i don't have any disc. from what i know the product key is in the UEFI thingy in the computer.

When I start BIOS setups it still shows
System Memory : 12288mb
Hard Disk Drive : 1000gb ( so i presume the hard drive still works)

Methods that worked for others but not me :
1. Taking out the HDD, give it a blow and put it back in.
2. Changing Boot to legacy
3. Changing the boot order to every combination i could.
4. Use a program called Wondershare Liveboot.
5. Reinstall windows 8.1 using a USB boot media, which was downloaded from microsoft home page.
6. Using command promt from USB boot media /scannow

the problem also lies in my little knowledge about computer matter. I couldn't find out if the HDD still works, what version or name it has, don't know how to update the bios as well. Please help me guys

Do not remove usb sticks until given all-clear by Windows.
"1. Taking out the HDD, give it a blow and put it back in." -- this could have caused more harm than good
I saw people removing usb sticks al the time so i thought it didn't matter much. but should it even do anything to the hdd ?
but is there a way to fix this ?
