Solved on new computer windows update stuck

Started a new notebook with windows 8.1 64bit installed. Chose local account.
Updater stuck. Then downloaded kb3135499 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=50796. Installation of kb3135499 stucks. Window keeps saying searching for updates on this computer. Cannot cancel the window.
Suggestions?

Stop the Microsoft merry-go-round by: as soon as possible, right after the next Restart, go to Control Panel --> Windows Updates --> find the choice that indicates: Notify me of available downloads; do not automatically download nor install.
That will give you and us time to attempt fixes for this problem that come from The 'Net [others who have solutions].

Set 'Never check for updates. Installed kb3135499. Restarted. Got updates.
