Oh No... I am typing and no letters are showing up

I have done this before but do not remember how to fix it....I must have inadvertently clicked a key and now when i type i see no words I have just typed .....just white space on the page. Someone please clue me in. I promise to save the "fix'.

Forgot to say it is my Win 8 laptop that is doing this. The airplane mode key light is white.

are you typing with white letters on a white page?

We need more info. What program are you typing into? Is it a web browser on a forum page? Are you typing something up in Microsoft Word when this happens? Perhaps wordpad or notepad? Please give us more info.
