Official Windows 8 Wish List

Add metadata thumbnails to videos.

This is the one thing I really hate about WMP and WMC, and how it forces me to install a plugin (Medai Browser) that just makes thing more complicated, expecially when working with an Xbox.

I'd love to be able to add copied TV shows to the "Recorded TV" section. It's there, so I should be allowed to add my own content to it, and not just stare aimlessly at it because I don't have a Tuner Card.

XP had the ability to add comments (and other info) to videos.

Why did anyone think it was a good idea to remove it?

Here's another thing: dvdid.xml support in Media Player and Metro Videos. Additionally: a means of managing tv series not recoded directly from windows without the need for a plugin.

Having the XBOX 360 support this while streaming (and subtitles) would be nice, too.

On the Metro screen I wish I could move the tiles to where I want without them all shuffling around, took ten minutes when it should have taken one minute.
Why can i not increase size of what ever tile I like and not just a limited few?
Charm bar needs work.

How about this for a proper Desktop programs menu?
Pkmc3.jpg

When you right-click the bottom left corner, you get that little control menu, right?

Why not add a programs submenu, that allows you to navigate to all of your (non-metro) applications?

It would be better than the current method (assuming it was easy to customise). :)

Personally the All Apps screen looks like garbage once you have a bunch of desktop applicatios installed, some of which can hav five or more seperate enteries alone (standard mode, a special mode, uninstaller, help files, and a registration URL launcher). This allows you to use the folder structure of yesteryear.

^What he said^ All apps will be spammed to death with bloatware from the OEM's and most of it will be pinned to the Metro Start menu. :(

Including schedule scans and right click scanning within Windows Defender would be great, since those are features that I found to be really nice in MSE.

DEFINITELY MUST HAVE ...........

A "CLICK AND STICK" solution for the classic desktop, another words I want to during the initial set up of the OS to be able to select "classic desktop" as the default boot setting, so that EVERYTIME I
start the PC up it only comes up with the classic desktop, nothing else.

If Win 8 does NOT have this CRITICAL option, and the OS will only boot up to METRO

I WILL NOT be purchasing Windows 8. Period.

My next OS will be Ubuntu or Linux. I can promise MS that millions of other users will be opting for the same.

lol, "I can promise MS that millions of other users..."
