I bought a MSI nvidia GTX 680 Twin Frozr III five months ago.

About a month ago, I was gaming and my computer would lock up and crash. I shutdown the computer, then turned it on, it worked for a little while when I was gaming then the same problem again.

Eventually after restarting/powering off a few times, I got chequered blue squares at post, in the BIOS and right before windows loaded. I couldn't use the computer at all. I left my computer alone for the night and the next day it worked fine, no problems at all even when I played games or movies.

Today I ran into the problem again, after resuming from sleep mode. I restarted and got chequered blue squares.

Now when I turn on the computer I get no signal at all.

Right now I'm using onboard video, computer is working fine. What could cause this problem?

Could it be a power issue?

It's not a temperature issue as my room is air conditioned. Maximum temperature of CPU is 42c and GPU 54c

Although that PSU seems quite enough it surely looks like a power issue. If you can, borrow a known good PSU of same or better specs and try. It is not uncommon for them to loose power after awhile and/or can't handle all the components or power fluctuations any more. Also, in some cases, those "chequered blue squares" can signal problems with video card memory.

When if ever has the GPU been pulled and cleaned out? What game is this happening with and is it just the one game?

I took it out to clean it once, and it looked as if it was brand new. MSI has this feature where the fans spin in the opposite way when the computer is turned on/off to clean the dust off.

Metro Last Light and GRID 2 also locked up and crashed, but that was before I got problems, and it was because of drivers.

Got chequred blue squares and lock ups when I played Crysis 1.
