Found few Important and Recommended updates this morning. Installed important ones first and they downloaded and installed all right. Restarted and all was OK. Didn't try another restart while installing optional cumulative update, it restarted and finished OK but since Restart, Shutdown (even from command prompt) doesn't work. Tried System restore and it could not restore. Run all the usual system checks and all was peachy. As my hiberfil was turned off I turned it back on and only Hybrid Shutdown works like it should.
For some reason I can't even see any updates apart from ones for Office since July so can't even reverse them.

P.S.
God Mode doesn't work any more either. everything else seems fine.

I have the updates installed & everything is OK. :)

I have Factory recovery disks & 2 Macrium images too.
I figured if the updates messed things up I had plenty of backup to rely on.

God Mode still works too---

I quit using System Restore.
I could not depend on it actually working. :(

I found them in Installed Updates---

I hope this information is useful. :)

Thanks Dave but I don't have newest updates listed at all so no uninstall. Actually I don't have any updates listed after last July ??? I did clean up update files before but not after these last ones. I have Macrium backup from couple of weeks ago, I can go back easy enough but I'm curious why and what cased problems now so I can avoid them.

Some backup programs (when an image is restored from them) seem to wipe the Windows Update history as if treating it as some temporary non restorable file. The actual updates are still installed and present though. Not sure if that could be what has happened here.

Thanks Dave, I don't have any of those new updates in the uninstall section, actually nothing after July. I did some cleanups but not after this update. I have Macruim backup from last week and I can go back easy enough but would like to see what went wrong this time. I figured to uninstall them one by one and see which one causes problems to avoid it but can't now. Yeah, system restore got quirky lately, almost made y mind to turn it off completely (now is for c: drive only).
