Solved Not really downgrading but going back

OK, so my main system is Windows 7 Ultimate, retail version.

I also have/had a 2nd, older system with Vista Ultimate, retail version.

On the Vista system I upgraded to Windows 8 but soon had second thoughts. Why give up a expensive and well functioning retail version for a cheap not moveable upgrade?

When I start using Windows 8 I should buy a retail version, or personal license as I think it's called now, Retail/personal versions is the thing I feel most comfortable with so that is the best way to go for me.

My question is this:

Can I, and am I allowed, to go back to Vista by simply do a clean install on the old system and wiping out the Windows 8 upgrade in the process or is my Vista license considered used up because it was used for an upgrade?

I'm perfectly happy with the fact that the money I spent on the upgrade is lost, it was not very costly.
