Not able to change language in windows 8.1

Hello everyone!

So yesturday, I had no idea what happened. I write in two languages and no problem so far. My PC was updated automatically after I shut it down and today I work up and each time I press (LEFT rubbish+ALT) the language doesn't change at all. I have to change it from the taskbar which is a pain.


I went to advanced settings and I saw that the keys are the same "LEFT SHIFT + ALT" but each time I press it, I'm not able to change the language.


Also I found that since the update, I have a "touch keyboard" in the taskbar. I don't know what happened. It seems Windows 8.1 did an update on that area and things are not working for me.


So how can I fix this problem because I'm writing very slow now because each time I should change the Language, I have to use the mouse and go to taskbar and click on the language I want.

Have you tried re downloading the language packs? Check out this Microsoft article that states some packs have to be re downloaded after an update.

I had the same problem until now.
My solution was:
1. Lauching device manager (WIN+R then typing devmgmt.msc into it or the other way you launch it)
2. Finding Unknown Device and getting its Device ID
3. Getting the driver and installing it
4. Rebooting PC

In my case the unknown device without a driver was Airplane Mode Control
The driver can be downloaded here: Zippyshare.com - Airplane Mode Control Driver_6.2.8400.4218_64bit.zip (it's for x64 OS)

As we have the same problem since the same day, I presume the reason was yesterday's Windows update.

As for 'touch keyboard', again I had the same thing. I simply removed it, not getting into details. It was called Synapsis or something like that.

Hello,

Thanks guys. So the problem was related to Synapsis V7.5 - I have unistalled it and everything is working as normal again. Shut down my laptop and now the updates are back again lol. So I'm removing it now too!

What is Synapsis anyway? never used it before. Such a weirdo software!

Glad you found a solution.

I believe Synapsis is one of those useless software tools that don't improve anything but are still released.
