No Windows Update?

quote from Microsoft in some of their support articles that mention updates for Win8.1 / Server 2012 R2:

IMPORTANT Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 have reached the end of mainstream support and are now in extended support. Starting in July 2020, there will no longer be optional, non-security releases (known as "C" releases) for this operating system. Operating systems in extended support have only cumulative monthly security updates (known as the "B" or Update Tuesday release).

as dave67 said, only Win8.1 get updates every patch Tuesday [or "B" releases]

Many of us, have already, years ago, turned MS Updates OFF, and never looked back. Life is so much simpler without some errant Update screwing up a great OS like Windows 8.1.

but so far, even with auto ms updates disabled or turned off, I have not yet encountered any "errant" update for Win8.1 unlike with Win10

Haha it sure is. No need for those crappy updates. Haven't had any issues so far and I'm sure most of us have not had any issues either.

For many years I used offline updaters like AutoPatcher or WSUS Offline Update, haven't needed them on 8.1 for some time now.
