Everything runs in a window:
Apps from the Windows Store now open in the same format that desktop apps do and can be resized and moved around, and have title bars at the top allowing for maximize, minimize, and close with a click.
It's just good marketing: they distance themselves from Windows 8 and at the same time they generate more buzz by using a name that (almost?) no one was expecting.
Wonder what everyone is doing over there, not even out yet.
Testing forum software, debating on the "next OS", reading scoop news articles, and playing word/pic games. You ought to check it out.
I've been using Windows since 3.0 and MS-DOS 2.1 before that. I'm looking forward to Windows 10. I'm currently using Windows 8.1.

About when i started with a PC, can't even recall what it looked like, most of my systems then were always an IBM.

Yes we started with a Adam, we learned CP and how to copy magazine articles to create programs LOL we were even able to upgrade to a floppy hard drive to store data much faster than tape but less space.
No matter the number, it seems that they adressed most of the demands: resizeable metro apps, the real start menu is back, option to start with Start Screen or Desktop etc. That's realy new from Microsoft! I'm very glad of it. Common sens prevailed.
Did you mean one has the option to start with the Desktop or Start Menu....AND then stay on that option. Hard to believe it will happen like that.

In Windows 10, you can switch between the Start Menu and the Start Screen. But for right now, you have to log off and log back in again to do it. As others have said, you can run all the Windows 8 apps from the new Start Menu, but I would like to have both available at the same time. Case in point, if I am out and about on my Yoga, I make want to use the Start Screen but when I have it in laptop mode, I may want to use the Start Menu.
Here's some videos on it's operation. I'll have one about switching between Start Screen and Start Menu later today.

LOL.Built an 8088 from parts ordered from Computer Shopper, that was my first real PC. One floppy drive to boot from. Then got another floppy drive and thought I was big time. Eventually got a huge 5MB hard drive and was in heaven.Yes we started with a Adam, we learned CP and how to copy magazine articles to create programs LOL we were even able to upgrade to a floppy hard drive to store data much faster than tape but less space.I started with the Atari and Commodore Vic 20
I liked it better when they did by the years i.e. Windows 2015.
