No Video playback after graphics driver update

Hey guys.
After certain update of my graphics card driver I no longer have a video playback on my video players (including WMP), besides VLC. All the other video player are just able to play the sound of the video file, Nut not the video (the screen just stays black).The thing is that I didn't have this problem previously,, all my video players were able to play all the same video files, which they can't now!


I have the latest AMD Radeon HD video drivers installed. As I mentioned I didn't have this problem before,, with a previous versions of the AMD graphics card driver. This happened to my laptop a while ago already,, Since I have this problem I updated my video drivers 5 or 6 times at least, and no change so far !!!


As I mentioned I have the problem for some time already, during this time I re-installed my Windows couple of times, plus I even changed the version of the windows (7 to 8), for the moment I have the last version of video driver installed, I haven't installed ANY codecs.


I can probably find out from which update of a graphic card driver it started to happen and install the previous version, but I don't wanna miss out on the benefits of the driver updates, since I can still play normally videos on VLC (Only! cuz its probably have integrated codecs?!)


Can anyone help me with this pleas?

p.s. All the other graphic card related tasks are perfectly normal, I play games and so on.

In the CCC of the drivers there are some settings for VIDEO, play with them and see what gives. Most probably you need to engage or disengage "Use Video Player Settings."

Thanks for a quick response. I tried to enable and disable all the possible options in the Video categorie of the CCC, but no luck so far. If you are certain about the fact that some exact setting may cause this specific problem, would you pleas located that stetting for me ? In my end I guess I tried all of them, but "u never know" .

Just checked and sorry, could not replicate that problem. Using Win Media player and Daum Pot Player everything works just fine. Can controll and manipulate the picture every which way. Does your windows have WMC ? It just could be you are missing codexes. Try to get some, this looks good, a lot of controll over it.

I have never installed any codec on any of my machines I had, and it i never had a problem up to that update of the graphics card drive. WMC does the same thing as the WMP (on Windows 8) just black screen, no video playback! only i can hear the audio! I just wanted to have it working as it was, without any codecs, but if I don't get any results, I'll try those u suggested me. In fact VLC is my main player (which also works for me now), is just a little annoying knowing that I have that problem plus sometimes I used to watch a video on Cyberlink PowerDVD for better viewing quality,, but as I mantioned at this point the only working vido player is VLC.
p.s. I can't even play WMA which is suppose to be a native format for WMP! so I am guessing is not just codec issue?!

Win8 Pro comes in 2 flavors, with and without Windows Media Center which I think incorporates more than just the player.

Mine is without,, but this problem started while on windows 7 and remains on Windows 8 as well,, as I said it started after certain updated of my video driver (wile on Win 7).

Sorry I could not be of more help,tried to replicate the problem but no dice. The only other thing I can think of could be interaction between drivers and DirectX.
