Hi,

I have recently created new user accounts in addition to my own on my Windows 8.1 laptop and although they appear to create correctly (no errors are generated) and the accounts are listed under Control Panel, User Accounts, and Family Safety/User Accounts/Manage another account AND Charms, PC Settings, Accounts, when I go to the login screen, I have no back button to switch to another account, only my original Account login is shown. Any advice?

Hi,

Many thanks for the swift response, I have attached a screenshot of the profiles I set up as per Control Panel/User Account Management and a copy of the command prompt result. Hopefully we can sort this out as I want a separate user for each member of the family.

Looking at your details, I see all of your user accounts listed. They are not disabled, and their status is OK.

If able, please post a screenshot of your sign in screen to see if it may reveal what's going on. You could use a digital camera to take the picture if you have one handy. Be sure to block out your email address in the image though.

While signed in to Windows, are you able to use "Switch User" to sign in to the accounts for now?

The December Windows Updates had a few bugs. You might double check to make sure that you have all updates installed to be sure the patch for them is installed as well.

Afterwards, see if you still have this issue by creating a new test account.

Im having same issue ... has anybdy sorted it out ... a solution other than refresh or reset as Im using my win 8.1 for over an year with lots of applications/email client etc...
I have tried the following ...
1. sfc /scannow (no problem found, tried in safe mode also)
2. Tried http://www.thewindowsclub.com/other-users-not-displaying-windows but no luck

Admin working perfectly... Also found that an important update "Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Update 1 (KB2932965)" which is not installing ... (shows installed but after checking update again.. it shows up again and ask to install) ....
So I am uninstalling whole VS 2013 package and see what happen?
If anybody has a solution to this problem (other than refresh/reset)... plz let me knw
