Yes that could confuse disk checking programs as to where is what on disk. There's something similar with HDDs to, physical and logical partitioning is not same. If you remember, in old BIOSes, you could change some parameters to suit different OSes.

Easus PM shows only one bad sector and that's very first one but it wouldn't BOOT if that was true, would it ?

Just downloaded on to desktop and new laptop with two SSDs; very nice updates/upgrades on this free version--much more capable than ver 5. I just took my second image of the laptop's OS SSD with absolutely no problemos... I/O Performance blows my desktop away: Read 1.3 Gb/s - Write 824.6 Mb/s -- that's from the OS SSD to a backup SSD also installed in the laptop.

Run many tests, file system is clear, no problems during any work or at BOOT time. SMART doesn't show any problems either, it's all 100%. All I can think of is some software bad sectors. On HDDs there are few tools that can solve problem like that but not sure what they would do to SSD, being that it works different way. All I can think of is to run safe erase by writing zeroes and repartition and format again. I'm not sure I'll get RMA because SMART is all perfect.

On this disk you might have to go with the Refresh Windows 8 - Create and Use Custom Recovery Image option to keep your programs, and recover, but that uses space on the disk. And it's useless when you want to copy your image to another disk, or your system get's infected. Have you tried windows own System Image?

Hey Mike one more option just came to mind(or have you already tried it?).
Try making an image using the recovery USB. Maybe when Windows is offline it might succeed.

I tried from W10 on another SSD, same thing happened. Must be some real IO error. Going to do some file/program shuffling and bite the bullet with safety erase, writing zeroes few times and get now month and a half backup on it.

Oh well the safety erase'll make it like "new" at least, then you'll know if you have to return it or not.

I remember how, on another thread a few months ago, how you were anticipating getting the new SSD. It would be a shame if it's defective, but when building things in the nano range like NAND cells, it can happen.

It won't be first or last time something goes wrong with any device but I have a Kingston sv300 for 2 1/2 years, many many TB went thru it and it's still like new.

Right now Download O&O SafeErase - MajorGeeks in free mode is erasing SSD, Easus PM would not do it because of OS being on it. Will use it after to do another null writing and make new partition. Hopefully that will do the trick.

...but I have a Kingston sv300 for 2 1/2 years, many many TB went thru it and it's still like new.

Everyone's experience is different ... I've had two Kingston SSDs and while one lasted three years without any problems, the other started failing after only a few months of use. But, they stand behind their products and I was able to RMA it and get a free replacement.
