Yeah, it's still downloading, 514 MB but I'm not on metered connection so I'll let it finish, will get rid of first one, it's couple years old.

I was eligible for the upgrade to Version 6 as I have the paid Pro version. Installed with no problems, have yet to test it, cosmetically changed though.

Suppose to allow restore feature to different hardware - same as aomei backupper 2.5

I am aware of that function and is one of the reasons why I went to the Pro version. I have not yet tested it yet.

I noticed that there is no apparent equivalent in V6 to the Pro V5 product. The Home version now includes Redeploy and trying to access info on the Business versions is a nightmare as it appears you have to go through one of their partners.

Used it yesterday, it updated normally. For some reason it refused to make backup from XP.
Did you also try it from the recovery USB? That's what I used for Windows 7 (UEFI) before I upgraded to Windows 10. That I only needed it that one time, it wasn't worth going through the trouble to install, but it worked well when I needed to reimage to test the different Build upgrades.

Installed it on an old computer with XP to change a HDD on it but it refused to make backup from partition and whole disk. Was going from a 40GB HDD to a 160 GB HDD.

Does your XP meet these requirements?

In order to run Macrium Reflect, you must have a system that has the following minimum system requirements:

  • At least 512MB RAM (1GB min recommended)
  • Windows XP Service Pack 3 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 or later
  • A keyboard and mouse

To use the rescue media, you will need either a CD/DVD writing drive or USB pen drive.

It sure does, C2D 2.6 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, SP3, the works. It's owner refuses anything but XP so I was stuck with that. Reflect installed fully, made recovery USB and everything was peachy until it tried to make backup file and that's what it refused to do. A lots of space and perfectly good HDDs, just needed to put that bigger one. Ended up installing new XP on that 160 GB drive.

Could have tried the dd command from a Linux live disk to clone, and save the endless updating. But a fresh install is a good time to reassess ones installed software and decide "Do I really need it?";)

I hoped to save some time but ended up with mor work than needed, oh well, anyway better off with new installation, this one was a bit long in the tooth.

Dumb question maybe: Can one even update XP now it's not supported any more to the last update pushed out?
There's some run around with updates for comercial versions but nothing of consequence for home use, not that much can help it anyway.

:roflmao: I got rid of it as soon as I could get my mits on 7 here in Germany, I think I used XP a little bit less than a year for home use(at my last job because of SAP until last year) it was kind of a warm up for the real Windows power OS's. 7-10.
