New Acer Lap Top came with Linux - How to Install Win 7?

I PM'd instructions... Once you up and running, we can get the tweaks for a Win7 type experience sorted.

Yes, definitely... Thank you Superfly.

With Rufus, how should I format?

Okay, Windows 8 is being downloaded, it will take around 1 hour.

One thing I'm wondering about, should I try to see if I can find the Original BIOS that the lap top came with?

Because remember earlier I "Updated" the BIOS, now I'm wondering if I should try to find the original BIOS and "Downgrade"?

I have no BIOS experience, so I gotta ask that...

I think legacy mode with MBR is the safest - but Windows 8 has much less problems with UEFI - so it wont really matter.

No that bios is rubbish.

That's good to hear, I sure hope so...

Erm, you mean MBR the first option or the second?

2nd as you have UEFI and that seems to work better on your machine.

By the way, you guys stuck with me through All these things for the last 2 days, till the bitter end, helped me and were with me every step of the way, and then helped me make a new beginning here...

I thought people like that went extinct? Where are you people hiding? hahaha :p

I'm in the "boonies" is what they call it around here. I was happy to help and looked at is as a challenge. Hopefully will come to a successful end with Superfly's help and kindness. Waiting to see.

Did you get sorted in the end? There are too many posts - I can't figure it out.

I hope so - certainly you (and Popeye and Superfly) put in a lot of effort...

Hey adamf, no, we failed to get windows 7 working.

But with Superfly's and popeye's help I'll be learning and moving on to Windows 8 on this new lap top... :)

Guys, sorry for no updates, I fell asleep last night.

It took Windows 8 over 1,30 hour to download, and just as it did, it had to Confirm the download, which took another hour or so I guess, and I fell asleep at some point, I was dead tired, it was a long day yesterday..

But I'm here now, and I have the whole day in front of me to work on getting Windows 8.1 running and learning how to use it and everything...

This is the screen I woke up to:

123.JPG

I should choose the third one, right? Or the second so that it creates a Media file (ISO)? Sorry for the noob question..

Ok, I googled, and found:

"Install by creating media: Will create an ISO of Windows 8 or 8.1 to installed via a bootable USB or DVD"

Makes sense, as I said previously.

Alright, I'm clickin it :)

Ok, I chose to save the ISO to desktop...

We're here now:

EDIT: Ok, I am creating a bootable USB now with Rufus, as Superfly told me to yesterday...

In Legacy the USB wasn't accepted. But honestly, legacy never accepted Anything, it Always got me to that GNU GRUB page, no matter what I tried...

Now with UEFI, we got this :D

Ok, things look similar to Windows 7, so they look familiar to me.

I'll go: "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)"

I have 3 Partitions, I'll Format the first 2 and then install Windows 8 on the second one:

The third partition I assume is my USB, so that's why I won't be touching (formatting) that... I could be wrong though...
