Could I try to install Windows 8 and then Downgrade to Windows 7, is that even possible?
My Computer

Something I found here:
Acer e1 510 linux model boot problem
Does anyone understand what this means?
"Finally, if Linux (and the GRUB 2 loader) is still on there, you can hold down the left shift key during boot. Go into the GRUB console and chainload the Windows /EFI/Boot/bootx64.efi or /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi. You can even do this from a Linux live DVD. I've done it before."

Shift during boot brings up the Linux boot menu - chainloading refers to Linux bootloader (Grub) attaching Windows bootloader to boot Windows - that's the theory anyway...

I'm thinking of going to the shop tomorrow and demand windows 7 or my money back!
Because when I was inquiring about the lap top I asked specifically:
"Does it support Windows 7?"
And the guy said specifically:
"It still does [chuckles]"
So, am I an a**hole?
Nope.

Nope that salesperson is...guess what? he's gonna refer you to Acer most likely!
Windows executables cannot run on Linux.
In as far as Windows 8 is concerned, I was one of it's harshest critics initially, but with the changes made subsequently, and a few tweaks, it's better than even Windows 7 (for me anyway)
TBH, I have more hope for Windows 8 - most posts on other forums suggests no problem.. or I may have missed something.
