Needs major help to recovery doc with temp profile! (NEW)

I'm new and I'm sorry but I know this have been covered on here before. I read a few post and try the methods but still no luck in figuring out where my 2 document for my class went. I need to find those 2 document before Monday, (MIDTERM PAPER!) and one is for my final due Thursday 23rd!

Here's what happened, Tuesday night when I went to shut off my laptop, there was an update. So of course it updated then shut down like normal. I didn't bother to check on what it was. The next day, I went to turn on my laptop to use and of course everything on my desktop was missing, like how most people described, like new again. I really don't know if it was a temporary profile that I was logged into but reading a lot of people's similar problems I have found on Google search made me think it was. Well, instead of restarting it, I needed to write my paper for my midterm and my final. I did everything, stayed up all night to write it. Turned my laptop off, Wednesday night. Turned it on in the afternoon to reread my paper Thursday evening. And there, my laptop was back to normal. Everything, icons, pictures, programs was back to how it was before the update. Now I can't find my papers I wrote! I've tried recovering it with EaseUS and Recuva like most people suggested but I still can't find it. I read on another forum that if it's a temp profile and there was a document saved, it's going to disappear just like the profile itself.

Is there a way I can get into that stupid Temporary Profile? I really need those 2 documents. I worked so hard!

Please, any suggestion will be really helpful right now!

Right click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner, click search, type in the title of the doc and hit enter. Hope this helps you.

You can also use the search charm by putting your mouse pointer all the way to the right lower corner and click on "Search"...

I have and like I've stated above, I've tried everything I could think of. I searched through over and over and over, yet still nothing. Went through file history and nothing. Like it was just a ghost, there then gone. Any other suggestions?

No I have not tried Recuva or EaseUS or Search in safe mode? Newbie question, how would I get into safe mode on Windows 8?

And I'm pretty sure I saved it. It was in Notepad, saved into my Download folder.

I see you live in California.

I can perform a data recovery for you if you live in the bay area.

otherwise you can try the free recovery tools, but the more you use the laptop, the chances you'll recover anything decrease exponentially.

Very small chance but you may try opening notepad to see if the doc is there, also use the Windows search to find " My Downloads"
If no joy you can try safe mode please read carefully before going into safe mode ( in safe mode you cannot access the internet ) http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2757-safe-mode-start-windows-8-a.html

The doc. may be in your Recycle bin

Recycle bin have nothing but old files that haven't been dumped. First place I checked. I have already tried Notepad and My Downloads. Thanks

A bit of a drive for me. What Recovery program would you recommend me to try? I mean if it's worth a shot, I can purchase it and give it a try or if there are any free trails then it'll be great!

Please let us know if your issue was solved.

Not yet solved. Still working on it. If I can't figure it out by Sunday. I'll just figure out what I wrote and start over, but on my desktop.

What accounts show up under C:\Users? Seems like the doc you wrote would be stored under the temp account you were logged in as, not under your normal account.

One thing you can try, install Everything Search. Once installed, let it start and wait until it displays data, then in the input line, type .doc.
All files with .doc will be displayed. See if any of them are the one you want.

Being that it was a "Temporary Account" there's a chance that any data you saved was only saved in memory, and not written to disk.

If that's the case then unfortunately there's nothing that can be done.

If you enable private messages on your profile, I'll send you something that will definitely find the file if the data is at all still present on the disk in any readable form.

Temporary accounts still reside on the hard drive and should be listed under C:\Users.
