Hello I had a way to remove items from computer context menu in windows 7 just want to know if there is a way to remove those items in windows 8 computer right click context menu in explorer. I need to remove

properties
manage
map network drive
disconnect network drive
add a network location

Thanks in advance for any help.

Also I just noticed all the options in the ribbon when in My Computer. I would like to remove those as well BUT I would like to keep the ribbon for other directories opened like my documents. Is this possible?

OK Upon further observation I just realised what I need to do withthe ribbon is remove some tabs from the ribbon such as sharing, manage, and basically eveything in the computer tab when in My Computer as well.

Hello Papayrus, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You can use the same methods for Windows 7 in Windows 8 to remove these context menu items. I'm not sure about removing them from the ribbon though.

Properties - Add or Remove from Computer Context Menu - Windows 7 Forums

Recycle Bin Properties - Add or Remove - Windows 7 Forums

Manage - Add or Remove from Computer Context Menu - Windows 7 Forums

Map Network Drive and Disconnect Network Drive - Add or Remove - Windows 7 Forums

Hope this helps some, :)
Shawn

Thankyou very much. Is there a way to completely remove or disable the ribbon?

Will these reg tweaks remove the add a network location context as well?

I am using this tweak on windows 7 Desktop and Shutdown Tweaks Combined - Windows 7 Forums is this still good for windows 8 or is there some things in the reg that need to be changed different?

Also how can I disable autoplay in windows 8 and how can I disable the Program Compatibility Assistant. Sorry so many questions but I am having a hard time finding these for windows 8 on your site and I don't really get my tweaks from any other sites as I find the ones offered here by you seem to be the best.

I found this somewhere else though it is supposed to completely disable autorun not autoplay can you tell me if this is safe and will have no performace impact and if it will work on windows 8 as well?

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf]
@="@SYS:DoesNotExist"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoAutorun"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoAutorun"=-

I also have a concern about UAC. I usually disable it in windows 7. I am not sure if this is right but from what I gather when UAC is disabled in windows 7 then all things are run as administrator? What about in windows 8 though they say all things are run not as administrator so if I disable it in windows 8 and it needs elevation will this cause some issues with software?

I don't know about completely disabling the ribbon yet, but you might see if OPTION TWO or OPTION THREE in the tutorial below may help.

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3034-windows-explorer-minimize-ribbon-windows-8-a.html

For Program Compatibility Assistant, see:

Program Compatibility Assistant - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Forums

Yes, it's safe to completely block autorun.inf files in Windows 8 the same way as in Windows 7.

Autorun.inf Files - Completely Block - Windows 7 Forums

You can set UAC how you like in Windows 8, but be sure to read the red warning box at the top of the tutorial below

I am using this tweak on windows 7 Desktop and Shutdown Tweaks Combined - Windows 7 Forums is this safe as well for windows 8? The code in it. I know you made it but figured I would just put the code here as well just for refference so you can see what I am talking about. Is this safe in windows 8 and functional in windows 8? If this is no longer good for windows 8 is there something like this it for windows 8?

If there is no way to completely disable the ribbon is there a way to remove the tool bar all together?

Code:

to their sources when it cannot find the target on the user's system.

NoResolveSearch = Prevents the system from conducting a comprehensive search
of the target drive to resolve a shortcut.

NoResolveTrack = Prevents the system from using NTFS tracking features to
resolve a shortcut.

NoInternetOpenWith = Specifies whether to use the Microsoft Web service
for finding an application to open a file with an unhandled file association.

the user either logs off or shuts down Windows .

If the value of AutoEndTasks is 1, the system ends the process

Awesome thanks alot the rest of the tweaks I need are already on your site excellent work man.

One thing though the right click Add network location still exsists on the computer context menu. Any way to remove that one as well?
