Need help with my start menu! URGENT!

Hello, I'm Joe.

I'm having problems with accessing my start menu, i can open it in anyway (That i have tried. I tried the windows key and going into the corner like usual). When i click the windows key nothing happens, when i go to the corner it looks like this:

When clicked, again, nothing happens. I know no other ways of opening the start menu, if you tell me i'll try them and feedback but does anyone know a way to fix this?

Try windows key + R. type in sfc \scannow in the run box. This might help. sfc=System File Checker

That didn't work for me, it pops up momentarily (I mean like blink of an eye momentarily) then goes straight back down?

Well I'm out of ideas except for a work around.
ninite.com download "classic shell" and install.
on the classic shell settings there is a setting to make the windows key
bring up the metro start screen.

Right-click in the bottom-left corner of the screen, choose "Command Prompt (Admin)", then try running the System File Checker from there - type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and hit Enter.
