My touch pad mouse can no longer click on icons and Menus

My dell Inspiron 3521 laptop fell to the ground and since then the touch pad can no longer click on the icons and the menus anymore. The pointer moves quite alright and I can see all my files on the desk top. So far I have done a diagonostic test and the hdd comes up with error code 2000-0142 Valudation 102586
the laptop boots fine. Does anyone have a solution to enable me have access to my data?
