This a.m. I see there are a bunch of "Important" Win8.1 updates recommended (my Win update settings are to notify me, but to allow me to choose whether or not to download & install them.

Have there been any known issues / problems with these updates?

Downloaded and installed. No problems so far. I did have a problem with an overlapping scroll bar and taskbar in the Metro window. The updates seem to have taken care of it.

I had an "issue" on both my PC's after installing these. IE11 settings have been altered, specifically the zoom to the strange figure of 156%.

I can confirm this happened on W8.1 x64 and W8.1 x86 Enterprise. Both installs are what I would regard as "clean" in the sense that they are MS only as regards installed browsers and so on.

Nobody else notice this ?

Hmmm... very strange. It sounds like it might be some conflict with my installed programs (similar to Libre Office and the Kindmap issue). Both PC's have pretty much identical set ups when it comes to installed programs.

Got an Optional KB2984006 notification, will not download at all. When downloaded separately comes out as N/A for my computer. Wander why the push it than.

Major problem for me with 2975719 AGAIN. In August it was "optional" and I couldn't install it, so I hid it. Now in Sept. it is "important" and I can't install it. It downloads, tries to install and then backs out the install - about a 10 minute process. Error code in Event Viewer is 0x800f0922. Pisses me off!

In addition to asking here a Google search wouldn't hurt.

Did anybody install the optional KB2984006 ? With the 12 important updates, I had no problem but after installing the optional KB2984006. I can't double click to open any folder in my PC (all 4 HD's) with an error message below. However, if I right click and select open in new window then the folder will open:

EDIT: Dism & Sfc did not find anything wrong.

PS. Restored and applied only 12 important updates.

Did you read descriptions for that update ? There was some mention about track (touch) pads in it. Might be your problem right there.

I installed KB2984006 anyway and have no problems. I don't even have a track or touch pad.

Thanks but there's no where to mention about touch pad.:

Strange thing is even I uninstalled KB2984006, the problem still persist. Had to restore from backup image to fix it.

Thanks Tony & Mike
Yes, I did not click on expand all and now I saw all fixes. I went back to earlier version of my backup image and all is cool now.

You’re most welcome. Can’t see anything in the list of updates in the rollup that would seem to cause your problem.

About the only thing I could use is the “Improvement for Bing Smart Search in Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2”. I use that quite a bit. Very handy feature.

I take it that it will only install those individual updates that apply to a particular system. It downloads all of them, but only installs those that apply. Do I have that correct? If so, the disregarded ones get deleted via Disk Cleanup?

You come across as critical of my post on this forum asking a relevant question?

Yes, a Google search would have given many, many results ... but this is a forum specific to Windows 8, so it will be my first port of call for questions I have on any Win8 issues.
