Eight Forums,

So I open Zune.

I start a song.

It starts off at normal volume, at the quieter beginning part, but then it gets REALLY soft when the more louder part of the song plays.

It never did that before I did a clean install of Windows 8. Do you know what's causing that and how to fix it?

Thanks,

David

Since you did a clean install, did you install the HP provided RealTek sound drivers? If not, give that a try.

If you didn't install the HP RealTek, all you probably have is the generic basic function Windows installed HD Audio Codec.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you think this driver would help? Original Realtek High Definition Audio Driver HP Pavilion p6331p Desktop PC | HP® Support

It doesn't have official support for Windows 8, but I Got the link from here: Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion p6331p Desktop PC | HP® Support

The Windows 7 driver is compatible. Actually Vista/Win7/Win 8 all use the same sound drivers.

I don't know if you already tried this or not....

Rt. click your audio icon in the taskbar, and select "Playback devices". Double click on your on board audio device (My system it's Speakers). Click on the "Enhancements" and tick the "Disable all enhancements" box, click apply and then OK.

Let me know if this works...
