multiple device problems (WiFi, biometrics and display)

I have been several problems for a while since I installed Windows 8.

Firstly my screen and WiFi randomly stop working (at different times).

The screen goes blank (black) and it won't do anything (even caps lock) so I think it's completely frozen. Usually I hard reset, but today I got distracted and it eventually came back. No event logs or anything.

With the wifi, it says it can't detect any networks (red cross icon) and again the only fix is a hard reset, reinstalling drivers doesn't help.

Finally, recently my fingerprint scanner wouldn't let me log in. It says in biometric devices that it's unavailable, but none of the explanations in help are applicable. I tried deleting my metrics and reinstalling but nothing...

I have an HP pavilion tx2 1250ea but I had to replace the motherboard and it's a 1050 or something, but obviously it's compatible.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Welcome to Windows Eight Forums, nintynuts.

Is all other hardware compatible with your new mobo?

If so, is this a fresh install or upgrade? Does your machine meet minimum requirements? Did you run Upgrade Assistant?

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/11885-windows-8-upgrade-assistant-download-run.html

The mobo is from a nearly identical laptop, it's just the naming from a different region/revision or something (it's not a standard mobo for lots of machines, it's only designed for this specific style of laptop).

I THINK it was an upgrade as I remember upgrade assistant moaning about some software when I started the install from desktop (which it doesn't do from disk afaik).

All of the hardware should be compatible as I have had it all working at some point. It just hasn't stayed that way for some reason. If something wasn't compatible I wouldn't have thought I would have been able to get it working at all...

Just to be sure, I checked the ebay purchase I made last year and it has a serial number for the board (504466-001), I then looked up the maintenance guide for my laptop (Manuals - HP TouchSmart tx2-1250ea Notebook PC | HP® Support) and the numbers match, so I'm pretty sure it's the right one. Although the HP automated driver check did detect a different model number for the laptop so the bios probably thinks it's different (the number I mentioned before might be wrong, I think it was 1025dx or 1020ea which if you image search all look identical)
