Like the title says.
I read that the K-Lite codec pack is a solution but if that is so then does anyone know a secure download site for the file. I have had bad experiences with infected codec packs in the past.

Thanks in advance.

I use majorgeeks.com for downloads and have never had any problems, another safe codec pack is Shark007.

Why not give VLC Media Player a try first. If it handles .mov then forget the codec pack.

brummyfan thanks, I forgot about majorgeeks!
Ztruker thanks. I even have quicktime pro on my windows machine so I can view qt .mov movies no problem. My problem is seeing the file as a thumbnail instead of an icon in the file explorer. I tried to find the file specification area for folders but failed to so I am hoping a codec pack will allow me to see small previews as I have to find and choose files based on their content, and that is a couple of hundred files at 2K res.

Try Control Panel, Default Programs.
Click on Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
Scroll down to .mov and set to what you want. Mine is set to Windows Media Player.

Ztruker thanks! Man you dont get service like this even in the commercial world.
I tried setting the .mov to windows media player and still got the icons. After the codec pack the previews are now showing up but not playing in the preview pane. I got interested in this after I found adobe bridge gave an unusable preview of .mov files. Bridge previews and plays every other format flawlessly, just not .mov. Weird.

Thanks again for your help.
