Hi all,

By using the following command and downloading directly from the source below, I was able to install apps manually without the store. However, some of them will not open and shows an error instead. Can someone please try to install the app AccuWeather for Windows 8 below (for example) and let me know exactly how to do?

[Download Apps directly from Microsoft Store at]

[Install Comand in Power Shell]
add-appxpackage C:\{enter the downloaded app path}

Yes. The 2015 version is the only that actually install, however it shows an error when the app is opened. This same issue happens with many other apps if you try. My Win 8.1 is in pt-br, yet I will show some screenshots so you can see it for yourself. I have enabled the policy group to allow trusted apps to be installed, as well. Have you succeded installing this one?

There are many different versions of VClibs and .NET. Which one should I install?

The command to install the app along its dependency should be this one? Correct?
add-appxpackage C:\(.appx path) -DependencyPath C:\(dependency .appx path)

And how do I run this "CBA"?

If you go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, you would see "choose where to get apps", please pick "anywhere'.

If you don't see this option at all, then it is likely you are on S mode. You can type winver in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, it will pop up a small window and see if it mentions S mode. In that case, you need to switch out of S mode in order to have this option (to download outside of store app). Attached are instructions in case you need it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/swi...

During my testing, I was out of S mode, the stock Windows 8 coming with the official Surface is described as CORE, Windows 8 CORE. I had Windows 10 (diff builds) and then moved back to Windows 8.1 pro x64, but nothing worked as great and fast as the stock version, it was never identified as S mode.

As for now, I no longer have W8, gave up after trying many things, yes I loved the speed... perhaps I didn't try hard enough or missed some details. Moved back to Windows 10, tried diff builds and found one that runs great, absolutely great (almost as fast as W8.1).

Thanks
