I upgrade to W8 Pro on 26 Oct. I know Media Center is not included in the upgrade so I tried to use the add features but the price is $9.99. I was also informed that a FREE download of Media Center would be available till 13 Jan 2013.

Is there something special that I missed about Media Center.

Thanks

Are you sure it's not going into your spam folder? Does your mail provider filter spam for you?

You might try creating a Hotmail or outlook.com account and submitting that. You have to realize, however, that they're being inundated with requests and Windows 8 has just been released.

And Media Pack doesn't add DV playback to WMP... if you want DVD then just download VLC or Classic Media player.

it's not identical.

the internet stuff is missing (so things like no streaming from CBS).

the setup has been altered. it's actually streamlined and faster. I have 3 digital tuners and 1 analog tuner and setup was much faster than in Windows 7.

WMC8 is also more responsive than WMC7. Maybe it's because they took out the Internet stuff?

Netflix in WMC appears the same. The overall look and UI is the same.

try a different email address.

I actually took it off (which requires a few steps), because all i needed it for was DVD playback, which I'm now using VLC for.

Hopefully someone makes a Windows Store DVD playback app. I would actually pay money and buy it.

I wonder why MS are giving up on some of their good products.
It makes me feel they are loosing their way.

The Windows 8 start screen is basically WMC.

Aside from the fact there's no DVD playback, no TV recording, etc...

Hi mine is now working
The problem after getting the key thanks to MS.
Was a piece of software I had not knowingly put on my machine.
NALPERION a software licencing module comes with Adobe pdf type apps.
MS tech disabled it and we were able to complete the installation which took ages. Why???
