Making sure laptop is clean before creating a system image

I couldn't repair/replace my laptop's corrupt files doing an sfc or dism scan and had to do a reset as I couldn't do a refresh. I thought my laptop was clean when I created my last system image, last month, but when it came to using the system image I realised there was corrupt files on there too so I had to do another reset. What checks should I do before creating a system image? so I know that as well as there being no viruses there are no corrupt files either. Check for errors in Event Viewer and do an sfc and dism scan?

Don't bother with event viewer - it is rarely interesting. More often than not it logs an information message as an error that really isn't important. Look at it if something isn't working.

Run sfc and dsim and then run a scan with whatever AV you are using.

I use Defender so I use that and also MalwayeBytes.

I must admit I haven't found that event viewer has helped me being able to repair/replace corrupt files or rectify errors

Thanks I will run sfc and dism as well as doing a scan with Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware and I use Defender too and will do a scan with that too.:thumb:

What backup program are you using?

I use One Drive and then (Toshiba) portable external hard drives to backup my files (and One Drive).
