Making backup of recovery files from usb drive

Hi, I purchased a new laptop with windows 8 and used the options in windows 8 to create recovery media and chose the usb drive option. I was wondering if I would be able to copy the files in the usb drive onto my external HD; then if I ever need them I could put them back onto a usb drive and reinstall windows 8. I took a screenshot of the files on the usb drive. I appreciate any answers I can get of this.

I thought if he could create a good flash drive initially then he should be able to do it again.

DVD is questionable though theog, so that's a good point.

jukemaster, how big was the flash drive you used and how much free space was left?

I used a 32gb flash drive and about 7gb of free space remain. The reason I asked is because I installed windows 7 on the machine and I need to use the flash drive for something else and I want to make sure I have a copy of windows 8 just in case. Thanks for the replies.

Flash drives are cheap. Go get another one (I have around 10 of 'em from 4 GB to 16 GB). I find that I can pretty much do whatever I want with an 8 GB drive, although I have a 16 GB for other things.

When booting from a flash drive first came out a few years ago, I failed miserably and no longer have an interest in that even though it's probably much better now than then.
