MAK's activates Windows 8 Pro Retail and Volume License Edition & Enterprise (obviously does not exist for Windows 8 Core Edition).

What is a "mak key" ?

If I read it correctly, a company can opt for MAK VL keys that activate though Microsoft over the Internet, instead of setting up their own KMS server. It has advantages if the PC hardly ever or never connects to the corporate network. One has to wonder why the OP is wanting to use a MAK key?

Why are you wanting to use a MAK key in the first place?

sorry for the late reply alphanumeric. actually i didnt noticed that you replied..... who said i want to use MAK at first place i just inquired about it..is it bad to inquire about anything.....?? from sometime i am searching about window 8 so there i found the term MAK/VL keys apart from retail version then i got deeper into it and these terms confused me thats why is asked here.... and one of my friend is planning to set up a company so i think it will be a bit amateurish decision to buy individual licenses for each and every computer there comes the volume license MAK/VL thats the reason i am inquire about MAK, pro vl and pro version etc..i hope now you will be satisfied...

You didn't mention anything about company use in any of your posts that I have seen. And you've been talking about 8.1 Enterprise and VL editions. Those aren't editions the home user would run so it made me wonder why you were asking about them. It appeared like you were ignoring my questions on that subject so that made me wonder what was up. Also, you mentioned in the other thread about adding Media Center to the VL edition. That's not a normal thing to do and its one of the methods used to pirate Windows 8. All of this together made your posts look suspicious to me. To be honest I'm still not convinced your being totally honest, but I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

one thing i have learnt in life alphanumeric that guessing and wondering leads to impertinence....and never judge anyone's honesty with a few wrongly interpreted post a serious advice...i don't bother weather you are convinced or not i am not here to convince anyone and please have your benefit of doubt with yourself i don't need it.. No offence..
there is something like msdn platform subscription which i have mentioned in my previous posts so carefully read posts before questioning about anyone's honesty.

MSDN Platforms only available for VLSC Customers and it only be purchased through Volume Licensing.
copy past from Microsoft msdn site

and I gathered from what I read its only Microsoft software programs not windows Operating systems like win8.

info below makes me think that
In a pre-production or dev/test environment, each user who accesses the environment requires proper licensing for the software they use. This licensing requirement can become expensive and unwieldy to manage for dev/test purposes alone. MSDN Platforms is a subscription from Microsoft that provides IT departments with a cost-effective way to license Microsoft software for individuals involved in the development and test process – such as IT Operations staff setting up dev/test labs, or Java developers creating applications for Microsoft platforms – but who do not require Visual Studio development tools.

From my experience i'd rather not use MAK keys, because of the following:-

1.Microsoft takes MAK keys as pirrated.
2.Since MAK keys use Volume licensing u'll have to re-buy another to re-fill ur count left on activation
(ie- once in 180 days )
3.Upgrading windows 8.1 will be complicated.
4.U won't get the free windows 8.1 update from the store.
5.only way is to buy it from MSDN which is "almost" double the cost.

so there's that if u have further doubts feel free to question me :)

Businesses use MAK keys extensively. They are not simply considered pirated

MAK keys do not require anything every 180 days, that is KMS

8.1 upgrade is only not from store from volume license editions. MAK keys work for more than volume license editions. They work in TechNet and MSDN too.

MSDN is expensive and never intended for home users as a licensing option.
