Looking for a Cleaning Software

I'm looking for a new cleaning software ever since I got rid of CCleaner due to the news of it being hit with malware. I really like having something that would clean my computer, so I know there has to be more than just CCleaner. Is there something else I can get that would clean it without any problems, malware or other?

I heard UnCleaner was great and bomb proof, but when I tried to dl it, it popped up with an 404.

Anyone out there, please help.

I still use Ccleaner. The malware has been removed (several versions back).

Really? Samuria told me to remove it right away because of the malware, late last year. CCleaner is fine, maybe has been this whole time?!

It "was" a problem but fixed not too long after it was discovered. I have both Windows Defender and Malwarebytes and neither finds any problem with the program.

Just uncheck the box to install Avast antivirus program. That is now included since Avast bought Ccleaner's parent company.

Fireberd, I have heard that CCleaner has changed since Avast bought it. Have you found this to be true? If so, is it better or worse now, in your opinion?

I use Samba to share my data drive with the other computers at my house.
I still use it, but the only thing I use is the "Cleaner" part of it. I have what cookies to keep also set so that when I run Cleaner it does delete what cookies I want to keep.

I've seen posts about it has changed, but the only function I use has remained the same.

CCleaner was only affected with the 32bits version, when the news came the problem was present in an older version. A short while after, CCleaner implemented a new certification that solved the problem. CCleaner is safe and per my experience changed positively.

I still use the last 4.x version. With the latest winapp2.ini file, you can still fine clean your system. Is there really anything that the 5x releases do?

I have stopped using CCleaner totally, my reasons are nothing to do with Malware, (well sort of ;) ). Piriform, the developers have recently been bought by Avast, The anti-Virus Company.

Since this takeover the installer for CCleaner (and possibly other Piriform Products), have been reloaded with "offers" for other Avast software.

These "offers" are often pre-checked so become what the AntiMalware industry, (including Avast), call PUPs, (potentially Unwanted Programs). Some cases have also been reported where there is no way to "uncheck" the offer for the Avast Free AV package, Even if you have another competing product, which in my opinion is the act of Malware.

Of course standard practice has always been to avoid running two active malware scanners at the same time as they are likely to cause confusion and lead to major issues, this policy by Avast invites this especially for those that do not have a lot of experience.

The avast installer does not run if Avast is already installed so they have the code to check for existing AM products so they seem not to be concerned about the potential issues thatthey are inviting

As I feel that this is a nefarious practice I have stopped using the Avast products including those formerly supplied by Piriform as there are alternatives that can be used Wise Disk Cleaner, Revo Uninstaller (I have Pro which includes Cleaning).

If you wish to use CCleaner, as it is still technically a good program, I would advise that you always run the advanced installer and check for pre-checked options, or better still wait s week or two after the initial release of a new version and search the CCleaner Site for a Slim version (which should not contain any free addons)
