How to Enable or Disable Using Camera on Your Lock Screen in Windows 8.1

In Windows 8.1, Microsoft has integrated the Camera app in the lock screen to now be able to swipe down on your lock screen to use the camera to quickly take pictures and video without having to sign in to Windows.
This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off the camera on your lock screen in Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.

To use the Camera app on your lock screen, you would swipe down on your lock to the bottom and release to see the Camera app. See example screenshots below.
- Click/tap on the Exposure button at the bottom right corner to adjust the camera exposure level to what you like.
- Click/tap on the Timer button at the bottom right corner to toggle between 3 seconds, 10 seconds, or off to take a picture.
- Click/tap anywhere in the image to automatically take a picture and have it saved to your C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures\Camera Roll folder.
- Click/tap on the camera button on the right side to automatically take a picture and have it saved to your C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures\Camera Roll folder.
- Click/tap on the video camera button on the right side to start recording video, then click on the stop button to save the recorded video to your C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures\Camera Roll folder.
- Click/tap on the Unlock button at the bottom left corner to go to the sign in screen.

NOTE: A webcam is required to be installed on your PC to be able to use the camera on your lock screen.
OPTION ONE
To Enable or Disable Camera on your Lock Screen in PC settings
1. Open PC settings, and click/tap on PC and devices on the left side. (see screenshot below)
2. Click/tap on Lock screen on the left side of "PC and devices", and do step 3 or 4 below for what you want to do. (see screenshot below)
3. To Turn On Camera for Your Lock Screen
A) On the right side under Camera, move the slider to the right to turn it on.
4. To Turn Off Camera for Your Lock Screen
NOTE: This is the default setting.
A) On the right side under Camera, move the slider to the left to turn it off.
5. When finished, you can close PC settings if you like.
OPTION TWO
To Enable or Disable Camera on your Lock Screen using REG File

The .reg files below are for the registry key and value below.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\AccessPage\Camera
CameraEnabled DWORD
0 = Disable Camera on lock screen
1 = Enable Camera on lock screen
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\AccessPage\Camera
CameraEnabled DWORD
0 = Disable Camera on lock screen
1 = Enable Camera on lock screen
1. Do step 2 or 3 below for what you would like to do.
2. To Turn On Camera for Your Lock Screen
A) Click/tap on the Download button to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.
Enable_Camera_on_Your_Lock_Screen.reg
3. To Turn Off Camera for Your Lock Screen
NOTE: This is the default setting.
A) Click/tap on the Download button to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.
Disable_Camera_on_Your_Lock_Screen.reg
4. Save the .reg file to your desktop.
5. Double click/tap on the .reg file to merge it.
6. If prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.
7. When finished, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
