Hi , i want to know how i can limit the speed of my connection to selected devices,i have a prolink N5001 router and a 6mbps connection ,i need to assign specific speeds to different devices using the wifi(like for the phone and laptop)

You would need to use QOS to do that. Which that router does not have the capability of doing so.

But when i go into advance settings of the router there is a tab gor QoS, but i do not know how to configure it for eg: how do i find the subnet mask etc of the mobile phone that i need to limit ?

The subnet is assigned by the router. Usually it will be 255.255.255.0 That is if you are using an IP range of 192.168.x.x

its a phone that i need to limit the speed how o i fill these out? Untitled.jpg

There is no real manual that I have been able to find on your Gateway. Dest. IP is going to be the Router IP. The Source IP is the device you want to limit. Just take the IP that is assigned in the Gateway to that device, and plug it into the Source IP, along with the netmask that the gateway uses for devices connected to it.

The problem is that every gateway software is written different from the other. It may not work properly unless you enter all of the values. You need to find out what the gateway uses for Priority values. Again, without a manual for that gateway. There is no way to answer all of your questions.

No problem. At 6mbps, it is hard to really implement QOS. Since it will actually cause the user to think that there are problems with the connect.

You could just turn off the Wifi & use a better Wireless Access Point, that allows for better QOS handling. Some routers allow you to use as both as a router or Access Point.
